Angels We Have Heard on High
Nov 28, 2018
The shepherds were the first to receive the good news of Christ’s birth. They responded to this message with haste and became the first people to worship Jesus—returning to their fields glorifying and praising God.
Encountering the life of God in His Son, Jesus Christ, is a cause for celebration. Join us in kneeling at the feet of Jesus this Advent season and responding as the shepherds did—with praise and adoration.
We have heard on high and we are going to go and share the good news!
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Luke 2:14

O Come All Ye Faithful

Bethlehem, “house of bread”, serves as a place of hope for God’s people throughout its history. As the birthplace of Christ, Bethlehem brought the bread of heaven to the world.
During Advent, let us remember the gospel is an invitation to eternal life. “The bread of heaven, Jesus himself, has come down for you, for me, and for the whole world. If we will believe in Him, if we will trust in Him, He will give us everlasting life!”
“And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
John 6:35

Good King Wenceslas

During this time of joyous festivities, we also take time to remember those who have suffered from violence, those who are poor, and those who are marginalized. The story of King Herod seeking to kill the “holy innocents” reminds us that Jesus came because of the reality of the dark side of life – sin. He came to bring life, joy, and hope. Let us be a Place of Hope and a People of Promise this Christmas season.
“Ye who now bless the poor shall yourselves find blessing.”

Silent Night
When the angel came to Mary with a promise from God, her response was obedience. She received the miracle of God, fulfilled by the Holy Spirit, and she was “highly favored.” As a result, the eternal Son of God came to earth as “the word became flesh.” He was love’s pure light—a love that can never be watered down, a love that lasts forever, and casts out all fear.
Let us celebrate this gift of love!
“Then Mary said, ‘Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.’ And the angel departed from her.” – Luke 1:38
